One important thing to do while you’re waiting to hear about an interview

Here’s one important thing to do while you’re waiting to hear if you’ve been selected for interview.

Get your interview outfit ready.

The whole outfit, your clothes, your shoes, your accessories, everything that you’re going to wear or take with you to the interview.

Whatever you do, don’t leave it to the last moment to find out that you’ve no idea what you’re going to wear. Go through your wardrobe today and choose your clothes. Assemble each component of the outfit you plan to wear, including your shoes. Check each item to confirm that it’s in good shape. If needed, sew on buttons, repair hems, clean and press clothes and shine shoes. Arrange to have your hair trimmed if needed.

If you can manage it, put your interview outfit aside in your wardrobe, so that it’s ready to go when you get the call to come in for an interview. If you can’t set the outfit aside, commit to washing and ironing your clothes and cleaning your shoes as soon as you can after wearing it.

If you’re not used to wearing your interview outfit, consider rehearsing the whole process, from putting it on to walking, sitting and standing wearing the outfit. Not only will you become more comfortable in it, you’ll develop a good idea of how long it will take you to get ready before the interview.

You’re only going to get one chance to make your first impression on the person who interviews you and you want it to be a good one. Being confident in what you are wearing will help you with this.

All the very best with your interview.

Ask yourself these questions

Is your resume good enough?

Does it stand up to comparison?

Does it represent you properly?

Does it demonstrate that you’re a good fit for the job?

Will it get you considered for interview?

Hopefully the answer to all these questions is yes. A confident yes, not a “maybe, I hope so, I’m not sure” yes. If you’re not sure that your resume is 100% working for you, then it’s time for you to do something about it.
